Pinstripes and Purple(the two things you can't see...)

  • Dress: Macy's
  • Belt: Torrid
  • Shoes: Payless
  • Bag: Maurices

I do a lot of shopping over the internet, and sometimes I just never know what I'm going to get. So when I ordered this dress a while back it actually ended up a little bit too big, and the belt that came with it is waaay too small, by like 4-6 sizes, how crazy is that? I was kinda bummed out it didn't fit right, but I've learned a lot from reading other style blogs. So instead of giving up, I went with what is apparently one of my wardrobe staples and grabbed my wide stretchy belt from Torrid. Problem solved! Oh yeah, a couple of details that didn't quite turn out in the pictures: The dress actually has a pinstripe pattern, and the shoes are purple with a black trim. I love how I feel in this outfit though, and I'm glad I was able to salvage the dress with a different belt. And of course my lovely wife took the pictures for me.

Shrug it off.

  • Halter Dress: Target
  • Shrug: Maurices
  • Pumps: Payless

I'm back. I hope everyone else had fun on this long weekend(at least for the US). I spent time with my wife and our extended family, and tried to keep up with everyone's blogs. We had beautiful weather with a nice hint of fall in the air all weekend. Its still warm though, so I decided to wear this halter dress with a shrug. It just felt very long weekend/fall in the air to me, and a comfy way to get back to work today. The shoes are also fun and have a little bit of gold piping outlining the top. And of course, my wonderful wife took the pictures. I hope everyone has a great day.

It's not easy being green.

  • Top: JC Penney
  • Skirt: Walmart
  • Belt: Torrid
  • Green Wedges: Alice + Olivia for Payless
  • Bag: Target
  • Necklace: Maurices
  • Bracelets: Torrid

I got these green wedges a while back, and absolutely love their color and quirkiness, but I've had a horrible time trying to figure out the rest of the outfit to go with them. Until today :). I've decided the problem was that I was never bold enough or funky enough with the rest of the outfit. I usually feel like I have a horrible time making tops work with skirts, even though I love wearing skirts and I rarely tuck in my tops, but I think that worked out too. I'm really happy with this outfit though, and I hope you enjoy it too. I hope everyone enjoys their labor day weekend. I know I'll be away from the blogging enjoying myself. And thanks to my beautiful wife for taking the pictures.

Monochromatic Bruise.

  • Tube top: Torrid
  • Shirt: Old Navy
  • Pants: Torrid
  • Belt: Torrid
  • Shoes: Payless
  • Necklace: Maurices
  • Bag: Target

Melissa at A Working Mom's Closet has challenged herself to wear pants this week, and I was inspired by one of her outfits today. I bought this lavender tube top online when it was on clearance because I thought the color was too perfect to pass up, but its a little bit too big on me, so I've been trying to figure out what to do with it. I also don't know if this outfit is truly monochromatic, but the shoes are a deep burgundy color, and go along with the two layers on top. The bag is a dark brown, and the belt is black and the pants are mostly a charcoal color, but neutrals go together, so I think its okay.

Paisley perfect.

  • Dress: Maurices
  • Shoes: Payless
  • Bag: Maurices

I usually think maxi dresses are cute on other people, but I've not been too sure of how they would work for me. Earlier this summer I was out shopping with my wife one day and we saw this dress, and she thought it would be perfect for me even if its not exactly a maxi dress, since we had been talking about trying one out. She was so right about the dress, and I love what it does to my figure. Even better, this dress makes me want to dance. Well, I also have to add that wearing a tuxedo makes me want to dance too, but that's not what this post is about ;). I also have a secret to confess: while I have discovered more and more how much I enjoy purses, one reason I pose with them so often is so I have something to do with my hands. I also have to add, the style bloggers I've interacted with are some of the nicest people I've ever talked too! And as usual my awesome wife took the pictures.

Just peachy.

  • Top: Maurices
  • Cardigan: Old Navy
  • Denim Pencil Skirt: Z. Cavaricci from Maurices
  • Shoes: Lela Rose for Payless
  • Bag: Target

Way too often I put together an outfit by starting with the shoes, and this outfit had to go through several revisions because the shoes were all wrong. At first I had a cami underneath the cardigan, but it was too dark and showed through, and the shoes(which were a nude color...) just looked weird. I grabbed this top, and tried mixing similar shades of the same color like I've seen other bloggers wear. And I just had to give up on the shoes, but this is another pair that I don't wear that often(I should, they're great, but they just never seem quite right when I reach for a pair of shoes...). And of course my amazing wife took the pictures.

Green with Envy(for Fall...).

  • Top: Maurices
  • White Skinny Jeans: Torrid
  • Shoes: Payless
  • Bag: Target

I think fashion rules are more fun when they are broken, but seeing some bloggers talk about "white after labor day" made me want to get in an outfit using my white skinny jeans I got this summer before Labor day. Unfortunately, if this heat keeps up, I certainly won't be starting with fall inspiration as soon as I would like too. I really love these shoes, especially the color, but they are a little too tight at times and I may have to get rid of them. That just means I can buy more shoes to replace them though.
